the royal margot tenenbaum

gwyneth paltrow wonderful performance in the royal tenenbaums.

margot is a woman of few words, and even less emotion, but somehow is the deepest character in the whole film. one of my very favorite film personas of all time!

(500) DAYS OF SUMMER

just saw this movie the other night, starring the mascot this very own blog, zooey deschanel! it is one of my new favorite movies. so happy, emotional, interesting, unpredictable, and flawless. breaks all the rules of hollywood romances. it's about time someone had the guts to dare to be different. enough of me talking, just go and see it!!!

she also plays opposite michael showalter in one of my favorite films, the baxter. check it out if you haven't. definitely one of the cutest romantic comedies ever made.

jean seberg, a truly lovely lady, in breathless. she is definitely one of the top contributors in defining that great 60's style.

such personality! this movie just lights up at every scene in which we're treated to jean's presence.

valentine's treat: amélie

another favorite film of mine, i thought it'd be a nice way to cover valentine's day weekend: the brilliant french romantic comedy amélie.

audrey tautou plays the star character, a young woman who one day decides to dedicate her life to helping others in her own quirky and unusual ways. this in turn makes some considerable changes in her life! are they good, or bad? watch this movie and find out!!

there's nothing supernatural to the film, but amélie's world contains a lot of unexplained events and outlandish magic all the same. i love how literal some of the film's jokes get, like in this scene where young amélie sees a cloud that "kind of looks like a bunny".

audrey tautou has such a beautiful and unique image to herself! i am collecting photographs of her to make into seperate posts here in the very near future, so definitely stick around and keep your eyes peeled.

i love this beautiful film, and i wish a lovely valentine's day to all.

it is truly fascinating that only 20 years ago, there was a time in america when a teen movie like this could be made. murder, mayhem, psycho dramatics, blowing shit up... and it's a comedy. it has it all!

oh, and shoulder pads! pleeease leave us not forget shoulder pads.
